Lovejoy offers a wide variety of disc coupling products in models designed to meet the application needs of today’s worldwide power transmission market.

Using advanced design techniques, implementation of Finite Element Analysis, and extensive testing of materials, Lovejoy has developed an innovative disc pack profile design offering revolutionary features compared to traditional disc pack designs found in the market. Lovejoy disc packs are manufactured using high grade stainless steel (AISI-301), which translate to high strength, high endurance to fatigue, and resistance to most environmental conditions. The Lovejoy disc pack can accommodate 1/2° to 1-1/2° of angular misalignment, and is used in all Lovejoy disc coupling products.

Lovejoy disc couplings utilize unitized disc packs with 4, 6 or 8 bolt designs. While the 8 bolt design can transmit greater torque than the 6 or 4 bolt design, it is not able to accommodate as much angular misalignment.

Lovejoy Disc CouplingsLovejoy couplings can also be fitted with overload bushings to protect the disc pack during momentary torsional overloads, eliminating the need for lubrication and coupling maintenance. Other features and benefits of Lovejoy disc couplings can be inspected without disassembly and the condition of disc packs can be inspected with a strobe light while the machine is running although it is not recommended that couplings be operated without coupling guards. In addition, Lovejoy disc couplings provide easy to assess equipment misalignment, are torsionally rigid without any backlash, have no wearing parts, are resistant to harsh environments. Lovejoy disc couplings have a long life when properly sized and aligned and provide high power density (higher torque for a given outside diameter). Lovejoy supports the API-610 Standard up to 3,800 RPM. Unitized disc packs ensure repeatability necessary for meeting the balance and piloting requirements as mandated by API-610.

Lovejoy SU Type Industrial Disc CouplingThe Lovejoy SU Type Industrial Disc Coupling has a single flex plane with two hubs and a single disc pack. The Lovejoy SU Type Industrial Disc Coupling is for angular and axial misalignment only. Two Lovejoy SU Type Industrial Disc Couplings are often combined with a shaft to make a floating shaft coupling. The shaft can be hollow for long light weight floating shaft couplings.

The Lovejoy SX Type Industrial Disc Coupling is a standard disc coupling comprised of 2 hubs, 1 stock length spacer designed to meet industry standard lengths, & 2 unitized disc packs. The Lovejoy SX Type Industrial Disc Coupling features two flex planes (one at each disc pack) accommodate parallel, angular, and axial misalignment, and is available in 4, 6 and 8 bolt designs with bore sizes up to 13 inches (330mm). Custom spacer lengths & overload bushings are also available for the Lovejoy SX Type Industrial Disc Coupling.

The Lovejoy DI Type (Drop-In Spacer) Disc Coupling features a “Drop-In” spacer assembly coupling with 2 hubs and spacer assembly (comprising of the spacer, 2 unitized disc packs, and 2 guard rings). The hubs are piloted which ensures proper centering, as an anti-flail feature. The Lovejoy DI Type (Drop-In Spacer) Disc Coupling meets API-610 balance and anti-flail requirements. Oversized hubs available for the Lovejoy DI Type (Drop-In Spacer) Disc Coupling which allows for the use of smaller couplings where applicable.

The Lovejoy SXC Type Close Coupled Industrial Disc Coupling is a close coupled variation of the SX Type coupling with hubs turned inward and mounted inside the spacer. The Lovejoy SXC Type Close Coupled Industrial Disc Coupling can be used with one or both hubs turned outward for different shaft separations.

The Lovejoy SXCS Type Close Coupled Split Spacer Disc Coupling is a split spacer coupling, where disc packs can be serviced or removed without moving hubs. The SXCS Type has connecting bolts which are installed from the end of the hubs inward, pointing towards the spacer. The SXCST Type has connecting bolts which are installed from inside the spacer outward, pointing towards the hubs.

Lovejoy Mini Disc Style Coupling (MD, MDS, and MDSD Series)

The Lovejoy Mini Disc Style Coupling features a zero backlash design with the highest torsional stiffness. The Lovejoy Mini Disc Style Coupling is all metal (aluminum hubs, stainless steel discs) with a moderate-high torque, and low inertia.
