SKF Rolling Bearings

Deep groove ball bearings

Deep groove ball bearings are used in a particularly wide variety of applications. Consequently, they are available in many executions and sizes.

Y-bearings

SKF Y-bearings, which are usually referred to as insert bearings, are basically sealed deep groove ball bearings in the 62 and 63 series with a convex sphered outer surface. These bearings are manufactured in a number of different series and sizes and are available with standard inner ring or an inner ring that is extended on one or both sides.

SKF Angular Contact Ball BearingsAngular contact ball bearings

Angular contact ball bearings have raceways in the inner and outer rings that are displaced with respect to each other in the direction of the bearing axis. This means that they are designed to accommodate combined loads, i.e. simultaneously acting radial and axial loads.

Self-aligning ball bearings

The self-aligning ball bearing was invented by SKF. It has two rows of balls and a common concave sphered raceway in the outer ring. The bearing is consequently self-aligning and insensitive to angular misalignments of the shaft relative to the housing. It is particularly suitable for applications where considerable shaft deflections or misalignment are to be expected. Additionally, the self-aligning ball bearing has the lowest friction of all rolling bearings, which enables it to run cooler even at high speeds.

SKF Cylindrical Roller Ball BearingCylindrical roller Bearings

SKF produces cylindrical roller bearings in many designs, dimension series and sizes. The majority are single row bearings with a cage. Single and double row full complement bearings (without cage) complete the SKF standard assortment for general engineering. Bearings with a cage can accommodate heavy radial loads and operate at high speeds. Full complement bearings are suitable for very heavy radial loads at moderate speeds.

Needle roller bearings

Needle roller bearings are roller bearings with cylindrical rollers that are small in diameter. In spite of their low cross section, needle roller bearings have a high load carrying capacity and are therefore extremely suitable for bearing arrangements where radial space is limited.

SKF Combined Needle Roller BearingsCombined needle roller bearings

Combined needle roller bearings consist of a radial needle roller bearing combined with a thrust bearing and are consequently able to accommodate both radial and axial loads. Combined needle roller bearings provide the means to produce locating bearing arrangements where radial space is limited. They are particularly suitable for applications where other types of locating bearings occupy too much space, or where the axial loads are too heavy, the speeds are too high, or the lubricant is inadequate for simple thrust washers.

SKF Combined Cylindrical Roller BearingCombined cylindrical roller/taper bearings

Combined cylindrical roller/tapered roller bearings, also referred to as "Kombi" bearings have been developed by SKF. They comprise two single row cylindrical roller bearings and one double row tapered roller bearing, and support radial loads and axial loads separately. The outer cylindrical roller bearings have high load carrying capacity and are only subjected to radial loads

Tapered roller bearings

Tapered roller bearings are produced by SKF in many designs and sizes to match their many uses.

SKF Spherical Roller BearingSpherical roller bearings

Spherical roller bearings are inherently self-aligning and very robust. The two rows of rollers make the bearings able to carry heavy loads.

CARB® toroidal roller bearings

The CARB toroidal roller bearing is a completely new type of radial roller bearing. This compact self-aligning roller bearing was developed by SKF and introduced on the market in 1995.

SKF Thrust ball bearings
  • SKF single direction thrust ball bearings consist of a shaft washer, a housing washer and a ball and cage thrust assembly. The bearings are separable so that mounting is simple as the washers and the ball and cage assembly can be mounted separately.
  • SKF double direction thrust ball bearings consist of one shaft washer, two housing washers and two ball and cage thrust assemblies.
SKF Angular Contact Thrust BearingAngular contact thrust ball bearings

SKF angular contact thrust ball bearings were originally designed to support the rotary tables of drilling rigs but are also suitable for other applications where high load carrying capacity, high axial stiffness and low friction torque are important.

Cylindrical roller thrust bearings

Cylindrical roller thrust bearings are suitable for arrangements that have to support heavy axial loads. Furthermore, they are relatively insensitive to shock loads, are very stiff and require little axial space. As standard they are available as single direction bearings and can only accommodate axial loads acting in one direction.

SKF Needle Rolling BearingsNeedle roller thrust bearings

SKF needle roller thrust bearings are fitted with a form-stable cage to reliably guide and retain a large number of needle rollers. The diameter deviations of the rollers within one assembly are within 2 µm, enabling these bearings to accommodate heavy axial loads and shock loads.

SKF Tapered roller thrust bearings

Tapered roller thrust bearings enable axially very compact bearing arrangements to be produced which can carry very heavy axial loads, are insensitive to shock loads and are stiff.

SKF Spherical Roller BearingsSKF Spherical roller thrust bearings

In spherical roller thrust bearings the load is transmitted from one raceway to the other at an angle to the bearing axis. The bearings are therefore suitable to accommodate radial loads in addition to simultaneously acting axial loads.

SKF Track runner bearings

Track runner bearings are designed to run on all types of tracks and to be used in cam drivers, conveyor systems, etc. These bearings have a thick-walled outer ring, which enable them to accommodate shock loads, while reducing distortion and bending stresses.

SKF Backing bearings for cluster mills

SKF Backing BearingsBacking bearings have been specially developed for cold rolling mills of the cluster type, but can also be used for other applications, e.g. straightening or bending machines. Backing bearings are roller bearings having a particularly thick-walled outer ring and can be mounted on stationary support shafts to form back-up or straightening rolls.

SKF Indexing roller units

SKF indexing roller units are basically double row full complement cylindrical roller bearing.

SKF Engineering products

These bearings have standardized dimensions but incorporate special features for specific applications. Properly applied, these bearings make costly customized bearings unnecessary, and they can also greatly reduce lead times since they are generally available from stock.

Mechatronics

SKF "plug-and-play" mechatronic solutions can be used to monitor or control operating sequences, motion or steering systems.

SKF Bearings accessories

SKF Adapter SLeeveSKF Adapter Sleeves — Adapter sleeves are the most commonly used components for locating bearings with a tapered bore onto a cylindrical seat as they can be used on smooth or stepped shafts.

SKF Withdrawal Sleeves — Withdrawal sleeves can be used to mount bearings with a tapered bore on cylindrical seats of stepped shafts.

SKF Lock nuts — SKF supplies lock nuts in a wide range of sizes; they are also referred to as shaft or withdrawal nuts, depending on their use.

  • Lock nuts with locking washer or clip
  • Lock nuts with locking screw
  • Lock nuts with integral locking device
  • Precision lock nuts with locking pins

SKF Hydraulic nuts — Mounting bearings on tapered seats can be difficult and time-consuming. Using an SKF hydraulic nut facilitates easy and quick application of the high drive-up forces required for mounting bearings.

Other SKF rolling bearings
